- שָׁבִיסm. (b. h.; שבס, cmp. שָׁבַש; cmp. b. h. שְׂרוֹךְ a. שָׂרַךְ) band, esp. ש׳ (של סבכה) metal (or woolen) band with which the hair-net is fastened. Tosef. Kel. B. Bath. V, 15 ש׳ של שבכה טמאוכ׳ a net-band is susceptible of uncleanness for itself, because one may (detach and) fit it for another net. Ib. 16 ומשום חיבורי ש׳וכ׳ but (gold foils and plates) used as fastenings of a hair-band are susceptible of uncleanness. Kel. XXVIII, 10 ש׳ שלה the hand of the net. Neg. XI, 11. Sifra Shmini, ch. VII, Par. 8 שָׁבִיץ של סבכה; ib. ch. XI, Par. 10 שביסוכ׳ a woolen net-band. Y.Sabb.VI, 8b bot.
